Mackay & District Senior Citizens' Club will be holding a Carols by Candlelight at the Senior Citizens' Centre in Macalister St - Sunday 29 November.

Shape the Future of Mackay 10/11

Residents have the opportunity to shape the future of the region's parks, sport and recerational needs by attending a series of community meetings.

As part of the formulation of Mackay Regional Council's new Open Space, Sport and Recreational Plan, community meetings are scheduled for November 9th and 10th to give residents the chance to talk directly with consultants.

KUCOM THEATRE 27/11

Kucom Theatre's final production for the year opens in their Shakespeare Street Theatre on Friday 13th November.

It's a British Comedy called simply "We Found Love And An Exquisite Set Of Porcelain Figurines Aboard the SS Farndale Avenue."

And you've probably guessed with a name like that, it's another production by the Farndale Ladies Dramatic Guild who try very hard to put on a professional show... but always seem to fail, which adds to the fun.

This year they face, romance, a ship wreck, a giant spider, survival cooking and a spectacular underwater experience.

The Farndale Ladies opens on Friday November the 13th for a two week season.

Independent accountability agencies in Qld have joined forces to to help the thousands of Queenslanders who annually seek free, impartial advice to resolve a range of issues.

Coningsby State School 14/11

Coningsby State School will be hosting "Saturday in the Old School Yard" to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the opening of the school on Saturday 14th November commencing at 10am in the school grounds on the Bruce Highway at Coningsby.
Formalities will commence at 11am and there will be historical displays, photo displays, souvenirs, a raffle, and entertainment for all ages. Hot food will be available together with refreshments and snacks. All are welcome!
Also as part of the celebrations a luncheon will be held on Sunday 15th November at Farview Tavern - bookings for this are essential as numbers are limited.

Awareness Workshop 10/11

Centacare Mackay presents the Protective Behaviours Awareness Workshop.

This workshop held on the Tuesday 10th November is designed to provide attendees an introduction to the international personal safety program, Protective Behaviours, with a view to maximizing their personal safety and the safety of their own children and/or children or young people in their care.

Held at Centacare, Milton Street from 9.30 am – 12.00 pm the costs are $70.00 per person.

The Men's Support Group meets at Relationships Australia - 2nd Floor of the Worley Parsons Building, 45 Victoria Street every Monday evening.

Starting time is 5:30 PM and it runs for approximately 2 hours. This is a very inclusive group and all issues are freely discussed.

One of the aims for this group is learning clear communication to improve relationships.

LEARNING NETWORK 30/11

Learning Network Queensland’s MACKAY Centre is now offering a Back to Work course to people who wish to upgrade their skills in order to enter or re-enter the workforce.

The course will begin on 23rd October and will run on Monday and Tuesday for 5 weeks.


This program focuses on job seeking skills including writing resumes and addressing selection criteria as well as learning the basic computer skills of word processing and accessing the internet and email.

The Back to Work course is funded by the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative.

MACKAY PLAY-CONNECT (on-going)

Mackay Play-Connect is a Playgroup for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
It meets each Wednesday during school term from 10.a.m to 12 noon at the South West Neighbourhood Centre.

The group is here to connect families that have a child from 0-6 years with ASD, or ASD-like symptoms.

Children do not need to be diagnosed to join, and siblings aged 0-6 years are welcome to attend.
There is a fenced playground and activities are suited to the needs of the children and carers.

Membership is free.
